Poland
Poland
Poland was a country that did not have any hatred or ill will towards Germany, but in 1939 Germany sent over a million soldiers across the border. Germany like so many other Countries before this did not do it because of hostilities, but for more room for the German super engine to grow. Germany was in a position where the current borders that they had were not going to be enough for the population boom that they had.
The swiftness of the German army and those that were leading them were unstoppable. In the first week, the battles fought were covert, and psychological in nature. By the time of the actual invasion, Poland had zero chance in defeating the massive army that was bigger, and better trained and armed. In little to no time, Germany advanced swiftly, and defeated any and all of Poland’s military, and instantly made a home for Germans.
Where were the allies? Germany and France were given an ultimatum, Britain, had a treaty with Poland, which the ink was still wet, and France just trying to help were led to believe that Germany would not invade, and were able to talk Polish armies into not ramping up for the battle ahead. This killed any chance that Poland had to just not defeat Germany, because they were overmatched, but to keep the super power out of their borders. Russia, aided Germany in every way possible because they were going to split Poland in half, and Russia, like Germany had to grow their borders.
During the fight between these two countries, millions had died, Slovak’s were persecuted, and ultimately murdered, and this was all part of Hitler’s plan to enslave the inhabitants of Poland, or kill them all (History.com Staff, 2010).
